If you have come here from an international Scout Group, WELCOME. If not then I had better explain.
Jamboree on the internet is a very controlled internet chat room for Scouts and Guides all over the world. For one weekend a year we fill several internet chat rooms with thousands of Scouts worldwide, having conversations and swapping JID codes. A JID code is a Jamboree IDentification code. Every Group (or individual leader) has one. Mine for 2025 is 5GB48H.

The idea is simple. Chat to Scouts from all over the world about what they like, from their favourite colour to their favourite food, or favourite Scout activity. For Scouts and older it becomes a competition. Not only to see how many JID’s they can collect, but also to see who can stay up the latest! The reason for staying up so late is to watch the time zones change from Europe, into Asia, Australia, then if they stay up late enough into Canada and USA.
Lifelong friends can be made here, and indeed I have friends from Western Australia, who I have met, all from starting conversations online during JOTI. It’s very easy to become involved with just your Section or Group, and JOTI can be a useful reminder every year of what a worldwide activity Scouting really is.
The chat rooms are open all year round at JOTA-JOTI 2025 | A World Shaped by Youth, but in October every year they burst from a handful of participants to thousands! If you wanted to have a chat with some Scout Leaders, or Groups from the UK then drop us some details and once the event has finished we will get back to you.
Back to our International friends, if you want to know where we are based its around Alton, Bordon and Petersfield and the outlying villages in the UK. If you want to see us on a map try here: Google Maps
Edited to add: As a District we also picked up a Certificate of Participation! Well done to all who took part.
