Volunteer with Oakhanger and District Scouts

Become a volunteer

Our volunteers are our everyday heroes! Let’s find the right fit for you. Share your contact details and select the opportunities you’re interested in below. We’ll pass them on to a local volunteer, who’ll be in touch shortly

Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in.  Our volunteering opportunities are as varied as you and there is plenty to chose from in the Widnes, Runcorn and Frodsham areas! Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local town hall, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread a group of very hungry eleven year olds – no two meetings are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great.

Make a difference, volunteer today

You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers and skill sharers. We’re talking about mini bus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.

We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life. Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is…

Scouting thrives because of volunteers at every level. In our area, there are two main ways to get involved:

  • Group Roles: These focus on delivering the programme directly to young people in local Scout Groups. You’ll help run activities for Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, or Explorers, and support the day-to-day running of the Group. If you are interested in a role with a group you can contact the group you would like to join directly or use the form below and we will help you choose a group.
  • District Roles: These roles support multiple Groups across Oakhanger and District. District volunteers help with training, events, governance, and specialist support, ensuring every Group has what it needs to succeed.

Whether you want to work hands-on with young people or behind the scenes to keep Scouting strong, there’s a role for you!
